There are a few things I love more than making an ordinary morning feel a little more seasonal... and yes, extra festive, even at 7 a.m. on a Tuesday. And my love for pumpkin spice anything runs deep.
But because I tend to enjoy my days at home, the 10–15 minute drive to pick up a PSL doesn’t always sound that appealing. So my thing is: make it at home!
Have a few minutes to spare? You might enjoy this DIY pumpkin spice syrup.
YOU’LL NEED
1/3 cup pumpkin purée
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
Cloves to taste, crushed
½ tsp vanilla
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Add everything to a small saucepan and mix together. Bring to a light boil, whisking every now and then, and let it simmer until it begins to thicken.
Let cool, transfer to a clean glass jar and store in the fridge for about a week. And voilà!
Add a few teaspoons to your coffee, or use it in your favourite autumn recipes — think soups, cakes, even mashed potatoes — and enjoy a little extra coziness this season, just in time for pumpkin patch season!
