Don’t come at me, but given the choice, I’d very much rather go pumpkin picking than apple picking. Sorry, not sorry!
Every October, we make our way to a local pumpkin patch for a fun day of walking the trails and grounds, chasing my son through the corn maze’s dead ends, riding the tractors and picking up wayyy too many pumpkins to bring home with us.
…Or, I wonder, is there such a thing as too many?
They obviously serve as props in my gothic botanical Halloween decor, but eventually make their way into my kitchen in all kinds of seasonal dishes, too. Think pumpkin mac and cheese, pumpkin gnocchi, stuffed pumpkin bakes—it’s literally pumpkin-galore season, and I am here for it.
But more than that, it’s become a true family tradition that we look forward to every year. And what makes me even happier is that my son now fully embraces it, too.
We prep our car drinks: a homemade PSL for me, a warm milk with a spoon of our pumpkin spice syrup for him, and a (slightly boring) Americano for my hubs. We put on our trail boots and off we go.
It’s the best!
