I get super excited to add seasonal decor to my house, and always look forward to (read: count the days until!) bringing some of nature’s understated beauty inside.
And as much as I’m looking forward to the actual cozy season—when the air is crisp, it rains and spooky season begins—I’m just not quite ready to bring out the whole Halloween shebang yet.
Slowly adding autumn elements before heading to the pumpkin patch feels like a bonus chapter in the year’s festivities.
I bring out textures like my pumpkin-shaped wicker slipper basket on the steps, imagery & coffee table books in green, rust, black & bronze hues, swap my chinoiserie plates for my equestrian ones I’ll soon be using for my Thanksgiving table, fill glass jars with faux foliage tucked into moss, and warm up the house with my favourite candles and beloved fireplace.
It doesn’t take much, and I love the simplicity of these little pockets of coziness scattered around the house. Soon enough, it’ll be a gothic botanical Halloween takeover! & then, Christmas! Oh my!
