JUST A VERY PERFECT OCTOBER DAY

Monday. No school, no work. Everyone home. No real plans. Some rain, some sun. I love these.

Autumn magazine, pumpkins and coffee on a sunny October day

So naturally, the day started by warming up the house with a cozy fire while we lounged in our PJs a little longer than usual.

After coffee and homemade cinnamon rolls — which I could barely frost fast enough to keep up with my husband and son eating them, definitely making more for Thanksgiving dessert! — we pulled on our rubber boots, something fit for sweater weather, and went looking for October.

We found it somewhere between the horses along the back roads of the Townships, the changing leaves in Knowlton, pumpkin spice lattes at our favourite local spot, a slow crisp walk, and a wander through the sweetest bookstore — à la Kathleen Kelly (IYKYK) — for my son’s forever-growing book collection. And I obviously couldn’t pass up an Autumn Bliss magazine.

Then it was back home for butternut soup and crackers. Am I the only one who loves pumpkin seeds, freshly cracked pepper & Parmesan as toppers?

And as cheesy as it may be, my heart is thankful. Nothing fancy — just love perfect October days.
